NOTICE

Due to COVID-19, all group world language classes will be held online until further notice.

Since 1986, the World Languages program of The Tennessee Language Center (TLC) has been helping the public sector, the business community, and private citizens realize their language and intercultural communication goals.

We are located in Nashville, Tennessee and serve our local community, state, and beyond through both in-person and online classes taught by our highly qualified and passionate native or near-native language instructors. It is our mission to help language learners achieve their unique goals and, with that in mind, we currently offer:

Group Language Classes

TLC offers affordable, small group classes in some of the most popular world languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

  • 9-week courses (2 hours per week)
  • 4 terms per year: Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall
  • Multiple skill levels
  • Classes average 3-6 students (max of 12)
  • Middle school students to adults
  • For personal enrichment and/or to gain a competitive edge
  • Taught both in-person in TLC’s classrooms (convenient downtown Nashville location) and online

Custom Language Instruction

TLC offers over 60 world languages
customized to your needs.

  • For individuals (one-on-one), small groups,
    or businesses with a common language goal
  • Taught in-person in TLC’s classrooms
    (convenient downtown Nashville location),
    at your workplace, and online.

Language Proficiency Testing

TLC administers ALTA language tests used by U.S. government agencies, global corporations, national healthcare providers, financial institutions, and global nonprofit organizations.

  • Available in more than 100+ languages
  • Measure and report language performance for all types of bilingual positions, including customer service representatives, nurse practitioners, law enforcement officers, sales representatives, flight attendants, personal bankers, physicians, government linguists, and legal document reviewers
  • Take the Speaking and Listening Assessment test, the Written Assessment test, and/or the Reading Assessment test

REFUND POLICY

The Tennessee Language Center (TLC) reserves the right to cancel a world language class if fewer than three (3) students paying full tuition are enrolled. If TLC cancels the class and cannot accommodate you with another class option, your payment will be fully refunded. Credit card transactions will be credited to the original card used. Refund checks will be mailed for cash or check transactions. This process takes 3 to 4 weeks.

Any class withdrawal request must be made at least five (5) days before the start date of the class in order to:

  • Receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee, or
  • Receive a credit towards a custom class (10, 15, 20, or 25 hour) package, or
  • Use the balance to purchase class materials (if applicable), or
  • Transfer the balance to another student or a gift certificate, or
  • Make a tax-deductible donation to the TLC scholarship fund.

No refunds or TLC credits will be issued for student withdrawals once classes have begun or for missed classes.
