Day 1: Instructor, Shannon Largen, NCVB

The first day of Taxi Pro is divided into three parts. First, Nashville Backstage takes students on a guided tour of Nashville’s major landmarks, biggest tourist attractions, and history. Students will also gain insight into Nashville’s sport teams and the city’s major events. At the end of class, students will receive a Backstage Pass that offers discounts and free entry into some of Nashville’s hottest attractions. Later students will study Creating Applause to learn why Nashville was voted the “Friendliest City in America” and how to create positive customer service experiences. During the last part of the day, students will discover All Access, an award-winning session focusing on serving customers with disabilities.  Students develop an awareness and understanding of overall disability sensitivity.

Day 2: Instructor, Aaron Lovett/Mark Putnam, TFLI

Two parts define day two of Taxi Pro: map reading skills and cultural competency. First, students will brush up on their map reading skills by identifying major interstates, Nashville area neighborhoods, and surrounding cities. Students will give directions, learn specific locations of Nashville landmarks and attractions, view atlases, and use all those skills we had to know before the invention of the GPS!  Next, students will explore Nashville’s culture. They will discover the meaning of “Southern Hospitality” and how to create a professional experience. This part of the day promises to be interesting and even Nashville-natives are sure to learn something new!

Day 3: Instructor, Khaled Waren, Checker Cab

The final day of Taxi Pro is all about the laws of the profession. First, students will study the Taxi Driver’s Ordinance, the laws that govern taxi driving. We also learn how to stay legal on the streets. As an experienced taxi driver, Waren knows what it takes to be a consistent taxi “pro.” He will share insights into some of the most overlooked taxi laws and include some trade secrets for new drivers. Finally, students will learn the risks of driving a taxi and how to stay safe on the job.
