Here's what our graduates have to say:
"The best thing I can say about TFLI's TESL Program is that I sensed how much the staff want us to succeed. There was never a feeling that anyone was trying to trip up students or catch us not knowing something. I really appreciate the nurturing learning environment created at TFLI."
-L. Zhito, TESL graduate Spring 2013."
"I've been hired to teach three ESL classes at the community college, and I will also be teaching English to high schoolers from Burma on Saturdays. I am incredibly excited about these new adventures, and know I would not have been considered for these jobs without taking TFLI's TESL course. The strong reputation of TFLI truly helped me during interviews (I feel like everyone in the TESL world knows you guys)! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me and for supporting me throughout this process. I feel very prepared and confident going into these jobs, and I really have all of you to thank for it. I'm so excited to finally be teaching ESL!!
- K. Fernandez, TESL graduate Summer 2013
"I am really grateful for how much TFLI helped me. I got promoted to the position of academic director at my school over other candidates with much more experience."
-T. Wiseman, TESL graduate Summer 2011
"I thoroughly enjoyed the TESL course offered by the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute. Even though I spent 33 years in public education as both teacher and administrator, it exceeded my expectations for both rigor and content."
-B.Watkins, TESL graduate Spring 2009
"The TESL program at TFLI is the best course out there in this field. The instructors have TESL boiled down to a science, and they remain supportive even if you aren't working for TFLI! Holding the TESL Certification definitely allows a person to be competitive in this economy, and the method of instruction is transferable to just about all areas in the acquisition of new skills and ideas. I sincerely recommend this course. I love this line of work more and more every day, and can say with absolute confidence that completing the TESL program is one of the best things I have ever done for myself."
-C. Campbell, TESL graduate 2010
"I absolutely feel prepared by this course! I have been given the tools to successfully make a difference in the lives of others. I am confident that the methodologies and techniques of TFLI's TESL program are the best and most effective."
-Ann Marie, TESL graduate 2007
"After orientation, I was amazed at the course’s organization and the trainer’s professionalism. Out of all my higher education experience, this TESL program gave me the most insight and practical knowledge to teach. Even though I have taught before internationally, I was not confident as a teacher. However, after completing my training and field teaching, I am ready to step into any classroom situation."
-M. Dawn, TESL graduate 2008
"I have never taken a better course of study in anything, and I have had many useful training/educational experiences. This was the best. All the information was relevant, trainers not only created an excellent learning environment but also demonstrated exactly how to teach through their own instruction, and the in-class activities, peer teaching, and practicum all contributed to increasing my confidence and ability as an instructor. Honestly, I feel that so much of what I learned didn't just prepare me for teaching ESL but additionally, taught me how to effectively convey any sort of information and helped further develop the interpersonal skills needed to succeed in any field."
-Keith B., TESL graduate Winter 2010
Thanks for everything you do! I really appreciate the fact I went through TESL. I can tell the difference in the way I was trained and other teachers that were not trained and/or trained differently. I have been complemented on my teaching abilities by my supervisor twice now. I subbed for an ESL class and she came by and watched and talked to the students. They gushed about how much they like me. She was impressed with the techniques I used. At another center I work with a lady who is a very experienced and dynamic teacher. Though I have never really taught GED before (just subbed a few times), my partner teacher with was really impressed with my teaching style....all things I learned in TESL. at TFLI"
-K Zealy, TESL graduate 2008
