Our Classes are Student-Centered not Teacher-Centered.
English classes at TFLI are probably not like English classes you’ve ever had before. Rather than the teachers being in charge of and controlling your learning, you as students are in charge of your learning, and teachers are there to facilitate. So even though the teachers still do presentations, assign exercises, and give direction, there is a lot of student communication and interaction, practicing the language and using it in settings that are very much like real life. Our classrooms are fun and noisy.
TFLI offers English classes to fit your specific needs. Whether you’re looking for a group class, a private class, a workplace class that focuses on job-specific terms, we can help! We offer continuous enrollment, so you can sign up for group classes and get started anytime. Our group classes run for six weeks, with classes meeting three hours per week, some on weekday mornings or evenings, others on Saturday mornings. Our private classes and business classes are designed around the needs of the students or employer. They can be held at the time and place most convenient for you.
We Know What Works.
After 15 years of providing affordable, quality English instruction, we know how to make learning effective and engaging. Our curriculum and methodology get our students communicating quickly in English and prepared to be lifelong learners and productive members of their families, workplaces and communities. Our English-only in the classroom policy forces students very quickly into finding ways to express themselves in English and in the world outside the classroom.
We Give Students Individual Attention.
Most of our classes our small–currently our teacher-student ratio is 1:7, and classes are never larger than 15. That means your teacher is really able to focus on each student, figure out your unique needs and address them. You’ll never get lost in the crowd.
We Have Dedicated Teachers and Staff.
All of our teachers teach English because they love doing it. They are trained professionals who know how to convey meaning through visual clues, props, gestures, acting, pictures and lots of other ways so even though they may know how to speak their students’ languages, they never need to do it to teach English. Their job is not only helping students develop skills in English but also the confidence to use those skills in the real world. Meet our English teachers and staff.
